What are the benefits of Apple Cider Vinegar?

1. A natural way of preserving foods

Apple cider vinegar can be used to preserve and pickle many foods such as cabbage, carrots, garlic and onions. When preserved, these can last for months and are delicious along side many savory dishes.

2. A natural all-purpose cleaner

To easily make a natural all-purpose cleaner you can mix two parts apple cider vinegar to one part water. This mixture is perfect for kitchen tops and bathrooms.

3. Great for hair care

Apple cider vinegar can be left in your hair for a few minutes as it is great to detangle your hair, add shine and can help to remove product build-up in your hair by simply adding equal parts apple cider vinegar and water (you can use less if you have sensitive skin)

4. An effective weed killer

Apple cider vinegar can be used as a homemade weed killer by simply spraying undiluted vinegar onto any weeds in the garden. For a stronger spray, you can also try mixing the vinegar with a bit of soap and lemon juice.

5. Delicious in dressings & marinades

Apple cider vinegar can be enjoyed in marinades, salad dressings, pickles or for any recipe that requires vinegar.

A dash can be added to soups, as a condiment with fish and chips, or as a light sprinkle over steamed vegetables to enhance the flavours.

6. A nutritious additive to water

Apple cider vinegar can also be enjoyed as an uplifting beverage. Just add up to 2 tablespoons to a large glass of water and enjoy!

APPLE CIDER VINEGAR FACTS

Apple cider vinegar is made using freshly crushed, ripened apples that are fermented and then passed through a rigorous process to develop the final vinegar product. During the first step, the crushed apples are exposed to yeast to enable the alcoholic fermentation process, and the sugars are then turned into alcohol. In the second step, bacteria are added to the alcohol solution which further ferments the alcohol and turns into acetic acid. Organic apple cider vinegar is made from apples that are allowed to ferment naturally without any heat processes. Unlike most of the commercial types of apple cider vinegar, the organic variety is not processed or refined. It has a cloudy appearance because it contains the “mother” of vinegar. This type of vinegar is also called raw, un-filtered or non-pasteurized.
